REOviews was a kaupapa that was born out of my love for film and the fact that I became a Pāpā over 5 years ago 😅 4 years ago TMP funded our kaupapa, e mihi tonu ana ki a rātou, heoi anō, it’s purpose was always to fill the gaps of te reo Māori in the ao Pākehā that we live in, get me from behind the camera and in front of it 🙈 and to bridge the two worlds that i loved because there were virtually no reo Māori resources around the content that I enjoyed when I grew up, so there has always been an element of wanting to translate the vast amount of worlds and stories, characters and films that are out there. The enduring vision Ahorangi Tā Tamati Reedy and Kahurangi Tilly Te Koingo Reedy carried together through generations of Māori education. It was a challenge to teachers to inspire `te hīringa i te mahara`, activate the Māori child to learn as Māori.
It is a bittersweet closing of the chapter. Following the passing of his beloved Kahurangi Tilly in March, Tā Timoti reflects on their unbroken bond, reminding us that the spark they lit together will continue to ignite the love of learning in Māori children.
