Ahakoa he aha e kaha ai te whakakōrerohia ōu. Kotahi hāora i te rā, he haurua o te rā, te katoa o te rā ia rā rānei, me he tauhou, kia tīmata noa ake ki te mihi, ki te poroaki i te reo Māori.
2. Toro atu ki ō hoa
Rapua he rōpū o ōu hoa, o ōu whanaunga, o ōu kaimahi rānei, torohia atu, ā, whakaritea he mahere kia kōrero tahi ai ā-ipurangi. Ka nui noa atu te ngahau, ā, kia ū, kia hāneanea ake anō hoki tō wāhi reo.

A Te Tiriti ki Te Hiku series - Volume II
There were at least 18 women who signed one of the 9 copies of Te Tiriti o Waitangi?
One of the women who signed Te Tiriti o Waitangi at Te Ahu was the wife of Nōpera Panakareao. Daughter to Te Huhu, another high-ranking Te Rarawa and Te Aupōuri chief, ‘Ati’–who was later baptised as ‘Ereonora’ (Eleanor)–was 1 of only 3 females in Te Hiku who signed the document.
British agents who were responsible for taking the copies of Te Tiriti o Waitangi around the country would refuse women the opportunity to sign the document, because of their gender; in the British colonial times, England didn’t allow women to vote or have their say.
Ereonora signed her name next to her husband’s as a statement of her mana, as an owner of land and timber, and being a direct descendant of Tarutaru and Te Ruapounamu - the eponymous ancestors of the Te Rarawa tribe.

You were committed to including reo māori throughout our ceremony and allowed our tamariki to run a total muck (which reflects our everyday lives and therefore had to be included in our ceremony!) while soaking in the authenticity and choas of it all with us.
Your guidance and support was unwavering throughout the entire process - you held us with aroha in vulnerable moments and shared in whakawhanaungatanga without question. We can`t thank you enough Vic, it was such a privilege to have you involved in our celebration of aroha.
